My wife was looking for a compact car for her daily commute — her requirements were simple: easy to drive, great-looking, and equipped with auto parking. After comparing the Geely Xingyuan, AION UT, and Namo 01, we went with the BYD Seagull. Two main reasons: trust in BYD as an established brand, and the “God’s Eye C” smart driving system actually proved useful in practice.

✨ Exterior — The mecha-inspired design has real personality. Hers came in pink, and we added a black floating roof for a two-tone look — it turned out gorgeous and feels premium.

✨ Interior — There’s a noticeable amount of hard plastic, but my wife loves the pink cabin. Overall, it meets expectations for a car in this price range.

✨ Space — Objectively, it’s a small car, so the interior feels a bit snug. Fine for solo commuting, but it gets quite tight when the whole family is on board.

✨ Features — Pretty satisfied overall. The driver’s seat gets power adjustment, and the Smart Driving version is loaded with cameras all around, giving it a clear safety edge over the base model.

✨ Driving Experience — The suspension is on the soft side, so high-speed cornering doesn’t feel particularly confidence-inspiring. But nobody buys this car for spirited driving — the overall ride is perfectly adequate.

✨ Range & Efficiency — In the city, we regularly get 300+ km on a full charge — basically exceeding the rated range. More than enough for a daily runabout. On the highway at 120 km/h, range drops to about 60% of the rating.

✨ Driver Assistance — The God’s Eye C smart parking and valet parking work really well. The highway assist, however, is just passable — the tuning leans heavily conservative. It always slows down to let merging cars cut in, and on busy on-ramps, it occasionally hands control back to the driver. Hoping BYD refines this in future updates.

✨ Smart Cabin — The infotainment system has never really been BYD’s strong suit compared to other EV makers. It runs smoothly enough day-to-day, but app and feature options are limited. Looking forward to OTA updates to expand the experience down the line.
